Daughter of the Siren Queen by Tricia Levenseller Published by: Feiwel and Friends Genre: YA, Adventure, Romance Length: 352 Pages Goodreads Rating: 4.29* Copy: Hardcover

Alosa's mission is finally complete. Not only has she recovered all three pieces of the map to a legendary hidden treasure, but the pirates who originally took her captive are now prisoners on her ship. Still unfairly attractive and unexpectedly loyal, first mate Riden is a constant distraction, but now he's under her orders. And she takes great comfort in knowing that the villainous Vordan will soon be facing her father's justice.

When Vordan exposes a secret her father has kept for years, Alosa and her crew find themselves in a deadly race with the feared Pirate King. Despite the danger, Alosa knows they will recover the treasure first . . . after all, she is the daughter of the Siren Queen.

I am always pretty skeptical about sequels and this was no different but I was also super excited about it. The arrival of this book even broke me out of my month long reading slump and it definitely did not disappoint!

Reading back over the review I posted for Daughter of the Pirate King, I wanted more Riden and Alosa, I wanted to know more about Alosa's siren half and I wanted more of her crew. Tricia must have seen my review coz I got every single prayer answered :) Let's start with Alosa and her amazing crew!

I love that we got to see so much more of her heart. We saw how fiercely she protects those she loves and how wounded she is by her past. We saw her torn between her human and siren halves and also torn between her tough exterior and her super soft interior. She is even more badass than I ever thought and I loved every minute of it.

"I may not have been born in the sea, but I was born to rule it."

Riden 😍😍

Riden was always immensely attractive. Seeing him challenge Alosa and charm every member of her crew. Witnessing him choose her over his brother and wrestle against his fear of the Siren and stand by her through everything.... he is perfect! Seriously need a potion that will make him real so I can marry him! 😍

"I think you love me."

"I do."

"And I think I love you."

"You think?"

"I know."

Their many adventures throughout the book also did not disappoint. I mean I came for Riden, but I was excited about the fast paced pirate adventures too. And, dying of thirst, battling cannibals and the awful pirate king, overcoming the pull of the ocean and the siren, and let's not forget Draxen... Alosa and her crew on the Ava-Lee are super badass!

Finally.... I think the pirate king got exactly what he deserved. I only wish we had seen more of it. I'm not usually a very violent person but I would have enjoyed some graphic imagery of his demise :) Especially after Roslyn's near miss (by the way, this just about ripped my heart out! Tricia that was so not cool. My heart actually stopped!!)
